ECE equips researchers with data analytics skills

2019-04-11

Many researchers are familiar with basic statistical techniques. Yet, with complicated research designs on the rise, some researchers may feel the need to learn more sophisticated statistical methods.

In March 2019, the Department of Early Childhood Education invited its professor, Kerry Lee, to share with academic staff and graduate students his experience of using Mplus.

In the workshop, Prof. Lee introduced MPlus as a flexible programme that models and link latent variables. He then illustrated how MPlus can be used to analyze data collected from different research designs, walking through such procedures as clarifying the hypothesis, getting the data ready, writing the syntax, and interpreting the output. He also detailed ways to fix common problems many users encounter when first using MPlus.

Thanks to Prof. Lee, colleagues and students are able to enrich their “tool boxes,” getting ready to address the ever changing demands of the academic world!
