Personal Finance Students Excel at 2nd Greater Bay Area Accounting Case Competition

"Book Surprise team", formed by students from the Personal Finance Programme at EdUHK, achieved outstanding results at the 2nd Greater Bay Area (GBA) Universities Accounting Case Competition, securing both the First Prize in the preliminary round and the "Best Creativity Award" in the semi-finals. The team was the only one from Hong Kong higher education institutions to advance to the semi-final stage.

The competition, co-organized by 15 universities across the GBA, including Sun Yat-sen University, and hosted by the Guangdong Provincial Steering Committee for Business Administration Education, was professionally guided by the National Accounting Graduate Education Steering Committee. As a flagship academic event under the GBA Universities Accounting Alliance, the competition attracted over 20 higher education institutions from the region. The contest spanned three months and consisted of four stages: preliminary round (Phase I & II), semi-finals, and finals.

The winning team stood out with their investigation report, "Digital Empowerment for Innovative Sustainable Accounting Practices." During preparation, team members conducted field research in Guangzhou, engaging with senior managerial members of a listed company to discuss digital transformation and sustainable financial and accounting practices. The solutions raised by the student team were grounded in real-world corporate sustainability assessments.

Dr. Tan Weiqiang, the Programme Leader of BA(Hons) in Personal Finance and MA in Personal Finance Education, acted as the supervisor of the team. He remarked, "The students effectively integrated ESG and sustainability knowledge from coursework with real business challenges, delivering solutions that are both innovative and practical."
