Dr. Michael Yeung Kin-chung, Assistant Professor from the Department of Psychology at EdUHK, has been awarded the Gold Medal at the Silicon Valley International Invention Festival (SVIIF) 2025. This recognition underscores the innovative spirit and research excellence of our faculty on the global stage.
Dr. Yeung’s award-winning project, titled “A Hybrid EEG-fNIRS Neurofeedback Application for Brain Training for Autistic Children,” focuses on developing a cutting-edge multimodal neurofeedback system. This system aims at improving cognitive, emotional, and social functions in autistic individuals. Dr. Yeung expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Our goal is to develop innovative tools that can make a real difference in the lives of autistic children while supporting the advancement of Hong Kong’s medical technology industry. I hope this project will pave the way for more accessible and effective neurorehabilitation solutions.”
At an earlier time, this groundbreaking research project was honored with both a Gold Medal with Jury Congratulations and an International Special Merit Award at the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, and awarded funding from Innovation and Technology Commission of HKSAR.
At the same event, EdUHK achieved remarkable success, securing a total of nine awards—including two Special Prizes: the WIPO National Award for Inventors and the Prize of the China Association of Inventions—alongside four Gold and three Silver Medals.
