Overview

I-WELL was awarded from The Beat Drugs Fund Association in February for a two-year project entitled “DrugFree4Health – EdUHK I-WELL Drug Abuse Prevention Education Programme in Tertiary Institutions”.

Led by Professor Leung Chi-hung, Co-Director of I-WELL and Professor (Practice) at SEC, this project aims to encourage students at EdUHK to maintain an anti-drug lifestyle, and to empower them with positive psychology and motivational tools to reduce the attraction of drug dependence through the following drug-prevention education programmes:

1. “DrugFree Buddy” Anti-drug Abuse Ambassador Programme
To provide basic and in-depth anti-drug workshops to students in Chinese and in English for ethnic minority students. Ambassadors will then organise interest groups and child care skill sessions for anti-drug project.

2. Parenting Skills, Interest Group Activities
Sharing knowledge and skills with ex-drug rehabilitee mothers on parenting and teaching children how to do homework, providing interest group activities.

3. “Life Teacher” Programme
As the programme co-organiser, Cheer Lutheran Centre matches ex-drug rehabilitees and “DrugFree Buddy” ambassadors to hold anti-drug talks and activities.

4. ”Anti-drug Abuse Talk Design Award Scheme for Primary and Secondary Schools”
EdUHK students participate individually or in teams to incorporate anti-drug, drug abuse and drug trafficking prevention into their lesson plans and invite judges to select winner.
