My research follows three connected directions: understanding how language works mainly in discipline-specific contexts through Systemic Functional Linguistics; exploring how technology and corpus tools can make language pedagogy more explicit and equitable; and using digital storytelling to bridge classroom learning with community engagement.

Much of my recent work has focused on developing corpus-based interventions for EAP writing, examining how undergraduate students engage with computer-assisted SFL-informed instruction, and investigating how generative AI reshapes learners' sense of ability and self-efficacy. Alongside this, I have led a sustained community-engaged programme in Hong Kong that brings university students together with refugee children through collaborative digital storytelling.
