Research Interests

  • Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL):
    • Design inclusive and engaging language learning environments using emerging technologies (e.g., GenAI) in collaboration with universities, schools, NGOs, and tech industries—empowering learners to grow and contribute to their communities.
  • Informal Digital Learning of English (IDLE):

    • Advocate for the recognition of out-of-school digital activities (e.g., Minecraft, Discord, YouTube, Webtoon) as valid learning spaces.

    • Develop AI-powered “Train-the-Trainer” programs to help educators integrate IDLE into classrooms, fostering curiosity, creativity, and learner autonomy.

  • Social Impact:

    • Translate original research (e.g., IDLE) into programs that address real-world challenges faced by L2 learners and teachers in under-resourced communities.
    • Measure tangible outcomes and expand scalable, open-access solutions to reach broader populations—ensuring that learning benefits the greater good.
