You can’t have too much drama in early childhood education!

2019-08-01

Children love pretend play. In fact, drama has been increasingly used in early childhood education in recent years. Therefore, in the summer of 2019, the Department of Early Childhood Education organized a series of drama workshops for its students, helping them to understand how drama can be used to support child development in the classroom.

During these workshops, students learned about the core elements of drama education, including acting, directing, and editing. Students also learned how to use more advanced pedagogical techniques, such as teachers as part of play, mime play with narration, construction of space, and tour performance. Finally, students learned how to incorporate general pedagogical practices, including pretend play, guided imagery, and social and emotional learning, into drama education.

It is the goal of the Department of Early Childhood Education to keep its students informed of the most recent development of early childhood education, through formal classroom learning and interactive workshop experience!
