2026-08-05

The 0-3 Early Childhood Education and Care Professional Development Team of the Department of Early Childhood Education at The Education University of Hong Kong recently organized a professional development trip to Singapore. The delegation visited various early childhood centres and educational institutions in Singapore. Through on-site observations, professional exchanges, and experience-sharing sessions, participants gained an understanding of local childcare service operations, current developments, and future directions.

This study tour specifically focused on early childhood education and care for children aged 0–3. It enabled participants to gain an in-depth understanding of Singapore’s strong practices in early years policy planning, curriculum design, learning environment setup, supporting facilities, and day-to-day teaching practices. The tour also explored how international best practices can be adapted and integrated into local early childhood education programmes and professional development to meet Hong Kong’s demand for high-quality early childhood education talent.

In addition, the team engaged in extensive discussions with multiple educational institutions and industry partners regarding curriculum development, student training, and potential future collaboration. These interactions helped lay a solid foundation for establishing strategic partnerships, promoting student exchanges, arranging internships, and developing collaborative projects. Beyond broadening participants’ international horizons, this professional development initiative also strengthened knowledge exchange and experience-sharing between the two regions, providing valuable insights and new momentum for innovative developments in early childhood education.
