In the first semester of the 2025/26 academic year, four staff from the Department of Early Childhood Education (ECE) at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) were honored with the “Outstanding School Experience Supervisor
Award”, jointly presented by the Office of School Partnership and Field Experience and the Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology. The award recognises their exceptional contributions in supervising pre-service kindergarten teachers during school placements.
The awardees are:
School Experience is a vital component of the ECE Department’s teacher education programmes. Each prospective kindergarten teacher undertakes practicum in real school settings, where they design teaching activities, prepare learning materials, lead lessons, observe children’s behavior, and manage daily classroom routines—gaining comprehensive experience of a teacher’s everyday responsibilities.
Supervisors play a crucial role in this process. They organise workshops to equip students with practical skills, conduct on-site observations, and hold post-lesson seminars to provide immediate feedback and reflection opportunities. Within this supportive environment, students gradually build confidence and effectively apply theoretical knowledge to classroom practice.
The ECE department sincerely appreciates the dedication and guidance of the four awardees, and looks forward to their continued efforts in nurturing a new generation of passionate and visionary early childhood educators, contributing to the advancement of early childhood education in Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland.
