The Department of Early Childhood Education at EdUHK will host the second “ECE In-service Professional Growth” public lecture of this academic year, bringing together experts from different fields to explore forward-looking topics and classroom practices that can be readily translated into teaching.
This session will feature Dr Richard Wong Kwok-shing, Academic Director of Early Childhood Education at CTF Education Group, and Academic Consultant of Victoria Educational Organisation. Drawing on research evidence, curriculum planning experience, and authentic classroom cases, he will explain how inquiry-based learning can spark young children’s language curiosity and motivation to express themselves, and will highlight key principles and actionable strategies for children’s Chinese–English bilingual development.
The lecture is particularly suitable for both pre-service and in-service ECE educators, supporting them to strengthen professional judgement and classroom practice through more systematic design of questioning, dialogue, and extension activities, and to build a “Curiosity–Exploration–Expression” learning pathway so that children can naturally enhance bilingual comprehension and expression in meaningful inquiry contexts.
Parents and those who are interested in pursuing the part-time Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Childhood Education are also welcome to join, to stay abreast of the latest trends, learn from quality practices, connect with fellow professionals, and continue improving teaching quality and children’s learning experiences.
