Past Events

The Department of Early Childhood Education at The Education University of Hong Kong held a series of thematic seminars on infants and toddlers.

From March to May, the department hosted a series of thematic seminars on infants and toddlers, focusing on high-quality parent–child interactions and infant and toddler health and development of infant and toddlers. From different perspectives, the series helped parents and early childhood educators understand how to support the babies’ development.

The first session had been delivered by Dr. Cheng Yuen Ling Elaine and Ms. Wong Pui Yi Ada, explaining how sensory experiences and free play had promoted physical, psychological and developmental well-being. The second session invited Professor Francis Chan Ka-leung  and Ms. Shong Yuk Ling Susanna to discuss the impact of gut health and language abilities on overall development. The third session, led by Ms. Woo Yuen Shan and Ms. Cheung So Mei May, shared parent–child dialogic reading, how to choose books, and interactive methods, highlighting the importance of reading for cognitive development.

All three talks had been practical and thought-provoking, providing rich interactive experiences and attracting many parents and early childhood educators to participate.
