Dr. Siu-Hang Kong (Eric) specialises in early childhood music education, music teacher education, and the psychology and sociology of music. His research has received international recognition and spans two monographs, alongside book chapters and articles published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including Music Education Research, the International Journal of Music Education, and the Journal of Experimental Child Psychology.

His latest monograph, Cultural Capital and Parental Involvement: A Comparison of Students’ Music Participation between Beijing and Hong Kong, advances cultural capital theory through rigorous cross-regional empirical investigation. The work makes a substantial contribution to global scholarship on equity and access in music education. In 2025, he published a second monograph, Soundscapes of Education: Nurturing Creativity through Music and the Arts, which explores the social and educational foundations of creativity development, offering a timely interdisciplinary perspective on arts education in contemporary contexts. More recently, his research has expanded into the integration of music pedagogy and artificial intelligence. By leveraging emerging technologies, he seeks to develop innovative, data-informed approaches that promote inclusive and equitable access to high-quality music education. This forward-looking research agenda positions him at the forefront of pedagogical innovation in the field. He currently serves on the Editorial Board of Humanities and Social Sciences Communications.

Alongside his scholarly achievements, he maintains an active profile in music performance.
