Enlightening Professionals – EdUHK Mentorship Scheme 2016-17 Kick-off Ceremony

As part of its efforts to promote the professional career development of its students, The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) held a ceremony today (10 December) to kick-start the Enlightening Professionals – EdUHK Mentorship Scheme 2016-17, in which professionals from various sectors will provide professional guidance in support of students’ personal growth. This year over 300 students are taking part in the scheme – an all-time high number.

Entering its third year, the scheme has invited over 100 experienced practitioners from various industries to serve as mentors for students who major in Education and other disciplines. Mentors have included school principals and experienced teachers, as well as professionals from business and non-profit sectors, providing students with chances to explore and experience professional development outside the field of Education.

During the ceremony, Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, EdUHK President, thanked the mentors for their invaluable contributions. “Through the Mentorship Scheme,” he said, “students become more confident and enterprising, as well as more sympathetic to society and the happenings around them. We owe a debt of gratitude to the mentors who have contributed in a selfless manner while unreservedly sharing with our students”.

As a leading university in the Asia-Pacific region focusing on Education and complementary disciplines, EdUHK strives to uphold its educational legacy and core values, enhance learning and teaching quality, and unleash students’ potential through a multidimensional approach. Benefitting over 600 students to date, the Enlightening Professionals – EdUHK Mentorship Scheme is among the University’s flagship programmes.
