LAW Tsz Yan, a Year 1 student
I am deeply honoured to receive the Yip Kwong Kan Scholarship as a first-year Personal Finance student at EdUHK. The University’s small-class teaching and the guidance of supportive mentors have nurtured my independent thinking. I vividly recall Dr. Yip’s words during the interview: “Every hardship endured is an opportunity for growth.” This insight taught me that true progress comes from embracing challenges. The scholarship has strengthened my determination to pursue professional qualifications in wealth management and to gain practical experience. Inspired by Dr. Yip’s dedication, I am committed to excelling in the industry and contributing to society by promoting financial literacy.
ZHANG Shuo, a Year 1 student
Receiving the Hong Kong Inheritage Foundation President Yip Kwong Kan Scholarship is both an honour and encouragement. It recognises my academic efforts in the BA(Personal Finance) programme at EdUHK while highlighting the importance of holistic development. As a Year 1 student, I have gained not only knowledge but also valuable interpersonal skills through a vibrant campus experience, laying a solid foundation for the future. This award affirms my dedication and motivates me to strive for continuous improvement. I also hope to encourage fellow students to seize opportunities, embrace challenges, and make the most of their learning journey.
LAU Ho, a Year 3 student
Winning the Hong Kong Inheritage Foundation President Yip Kwong Kan Scholarship is a tremendous honour. Studying Personal Finance at EdUHK has equipped me with practical knowledge in investment, risk management, and financial planning. Through a group project on credit card usage and household debt, I came to realize that finance is not just about numbers—it is equally about psychology and habits. Maintaining a good academic performance required consistent dedication, but the learning journey itself has been truly rewarding. This scholarship not only eases my family’s financial burden but also inspires me to pursue a Master’s degree in Finance or FinTech. I hope to contribute to helping Hong Kong families achieve long-term financial security. I am sincerely grateful to the Foundation and EdUHK for this life-changing opportunity.
WU Linliang, a Year 3 student
My guiding principle is simple: take actions that build confidence. I see exercise and academic achievement not as a pursuit of perfection, but as ways to develop resilience, discipline, and self-belief. Instead of worrying about an uncertain future, I focus on the present—setting clear goals and completing daily tasks step by step. This steady progress strengthens my ability to adapt and persevere. The Yip Kwong Kan Scholarship reminds me that growth goes beyond personal success. It is about taking responsibility and contributing to others. By staying grounded and committed to improvement, I aim to become a confident and dependable individual who creates meaningful impact.
ZHANG Mier, a Year 3 student
Receiving the Hong Kong Heritage Foundation President Yip Kwong Kan Scholarship is both an honour and a strong motivation for me to keep improving. It not only recognises my past efforts but also reminds me to approach my future studies with responsibility and dedication. Over the past year, I have gained valuable knowledge in personal finance and learned to apply it to real life. Balancing studies and work was challenging, but it strengthened my discipline, perseverance, and time management. This scholarship encourages me to continue growing, broaden my perspectives, and contribute positively to society. I am sincerely grateful for the support and will strive to do my best.
