Mariusz Boguszewski is a PhD candidate at the Education University of Hong Kong. His research area covers development economics and international political economy. Geographical scope focus on Southeast Asia in general – Vietnam in particular. His PhD topic covers the impact of free trade agreements (FTA) on Vietnam’s development prospect. Newly introduced, EU-Vietnam FTA (EVFTA) is in the main scope.
He holds two master's degrees, one from University of Warsaw in economic geography – development studies of Asia and second from SGH Warsaw School of Economics in economics – international economic relations between Asian countries and the European Union. He also participated in student exchange and research fellowship programs in the USA, the UK and Kazakhstan.
He has almost 15 years working experience in Polish government administration from which 12 years in foreign service in Kazakhstan (Almaty), UK (London), China (Shanghai), Hong Kong and Vietnam (Hanoi) where he served two terms. He also worked in the private sector in Poland (banking), Kazakhstan (gas & oil), Vietnam and Hong Kong (business consulting). He supported setting the Central-Eastern European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (CEEC) and was its first Advisory Committee chairman. One of the fields he was covering in Vietnam was the EVFTA preparation.
