Dr. Jesus Alfonso (Jess) D. Datu, Assistant Professor at the Department of Special Education and Counselling, is a winner of the 2020 Emerging Scholar and Diversity Award by the Association for Research in Personality (ARP).

This special award adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic situation combines the Emerging Scholar and Diversity Awards which is presented biennially to recognize exceptionally high quality work from emerging personality psychologists and to support the professional development of early career researchers/researchers from historically marginalized communities. This award is also funded by the Hogan Assessment Systems.

In addition, Jess received the SPI Outstanding Reviewer Award, which is a new annual recognition process by which the journal seeks to award one reviewer each year. It is consistent with the mission of School Psychology International (SPI) to provide high quality reviews in order to ensure rigorous and meaningful scholarship in the field of school psychology.
