On 4 August 2021, Dr Neil Cohn, Associate Professor at the Department of Cognition and Communication at Tilburg University in The Netherlands, shared his work on “Fluency and Development of Visual Narrative Comprehension”. He reviewed the evidence of the non-universality of visual narrative comprehension and focused on the developmental trajectory of learning in the comprehension of sequential images in autistic individuals. Dr Cohn argued that visual narratives require a fluency to comprehend that is learned through exposure and practice.
