Professor Sin Kuen Fung and His Team Received International Recognition at Silicon Valley International Invention Festival (SVIIF) 2026

We are delighted to share that Professor Sin Kuen Fung, Kenneth, Research Professor at the Department of Special Education and Counselling, and Dr Fung Ka Yan, Gabby, Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Special Needs and Inclusive Education (ISNIE), have received the Silver Medal at the Silicon Valley International Invention Festival (SVIIF) 2026 for their innovative project, "Loving Baby: A Multi-Modal Interactive Cognitive Ability and Language Enhancement System for Special Needs."

 

Loving Baby is a humanoid, multimodal interactive robot system that integrates speech, gestures, games, and self-determination theory-based design to support inclusive language learning, learning engagement, and emotional well-being among primary school students with and without special educational needs. The system aims to foster positive thinking and enhance students' cognitive, communication, and social development through interactive learning experiences.

 

This international recognition highlights the Department's commitment to innovative research and knowledge transfer that promotes inclusive education and supports the diverse learning needs. The project demonstrates the potential of educational technology to enhance student learning outcomes and well-being while contributing to a more inclusive society.
