Professor Jennifer Jolly Visits Spain with FEHD Scholars

2025-12-18

In October 2025, Professor Jennifer Jolly, Head of the Department of Special Education and Counselling (SEC), joined fellow Faculty of Education and Human Development (FEHD) scholars on an impactful outreach trip across Spain, advancing the department's commitment to internationalisation and global collaboration. The visit included Dr Emma E. Buchtel, Associate Dean (International Engagement) from FEHD, Professor Alfredo Bautista Arellano, Associate Head of Department of Early Childhood Education (ECE), and Dr Yung Wai Ho Kevin, Associate Head of Department of Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) at EdUHK.

Visiting the vibrant cities of Madrid, Toledo, and Barcelona, the team engaged with leading institutions such as the University of Barcelona (UB), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Ramon Llull University, Madrid Complutense University, Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), University of Alcala, and the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM). They met with representatives of internationalisation and faculty members from education and psychology, fostering meaningful dialogue and exploring opportunities for student exchange.

Aligned with the faculty's strategic plan to enhance internationalisation, the trip focused on deepening academic partnerships by identifying promising institutions for student exchanges and research collaboration, which can further expand the EdUHK footprint in Spain. Additionally, all participating universities expressed strong interest in COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) exchanges and presentations, underscoring a shared vision for innovative cross-border education.

Through these efforts, the SEC department continues to strengthen cross-cultural understanding and collaborative spirit among its students and staff.
