Awardee of the President’s Commendation in Arts and Culture

Terena Wong-Bachelor of Education (Honors) (Visual Arts), 2019 Graduate

The awardee of the President’s Commendation in Arts and Culture 2018/19

Having awarded the President’s Commendation in Arts and Culture 2018/19, Terena has never stopped chasing her dream as an artist specializing in 3D wall painting ever since. Her effort also earned herself the 46th International Street Painting – Merit Award, and HKSAR Government Scholarship Fund – Talent Development Scholarship 2018/19.

Terena’s art works came in various aspects in our daily life. She worked with different organisations including government units, charity sectors and 10 local schools for promoting and creating 3D wall paintings everywhere. She was also a crew member working on the art pieces for the music video “Teenage Dream” of Katy Perry, a well-known pop singer in the US.

Deep down in her heart, Terena believes that wall painting is a team work which depicts that arts could also be an essential part of life education. She completed her master study in the UK in 2020, and she will contribute back to arts education by becoming a visual arts teacher in a secondary school.

The Education University of Hong Kong considers it vital to encourage students’ active engagement in co-curricular activities so as to build value systems and personalities, broaden horizons and absorb knowledge from alternative and non-traditional sources.  The President’s Commendation Scheme (PCS) was introduced in 2010/11 as a University-level recognition of students’ non-academic achievements.
