The Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) has set up under the Innovation and Technology Fund the STEM Internship Scheme to encourage STEM students to gain innovation and technology (I&T)-related work experience during their studies and to foster their interest in pursuing a career in I&T after graduation, so as to enlarge the local I&T talent pool.
Important Note for The Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) STEM Internship Scheme 2026 (“Scheme”):
Employers and Student Interns are required to ad here to all stipulations outlined in the ITC STEM Internship Scheme 2026 Guidelines (“Guidelines”).
For the complete and most current version of the Guidelines, please click here.

Key Features and Highlights
- Internship Duration: Internships are available exclusively during the Summer Term from 1 June 2026 to 31 August 2026. Both the starting and ending dates must fall on a workday. If either date falls on a weekend or public holiday, Employers must provide written confirmation that both dates are workdays
- Non-Credit Bearing:The STEM Internship Scheme is designed as a non-credit bearing internship
- Monthly Allowance: The monthly allowance under the ITC STEM Internship Scheme is HK$11,490 for a 30-calendar-day month. Please note that the allowance is subject to review and adjustment by the funding body.
- Application Period for Employers: Applications from Employers for the Scheme will be accepted from 30 April 2026 to 27 July 2026, at 17:59. Late applications will not be considered. Please note that the internship quota is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to all requirements being met. Once the quota is full, no further applications will be accepted.
- Application Process: Employers must complete the Online Form (Please provide all required company information. Failure to do so may affect your application and result in its rejection without further notice). Employer Applications must be submitted via the EdUHK website under Career Development Services > Internship Programmes > STEM Internship Scheme > Participating Employers. Successful applicants will receive the “Employer Application Result” within 14 calendar days. Incomplete applications will not be processed. If you do not receive a response within 14 calendar days of submission, please assume that your application has not progressed further. Upon acceptance, job vacancies will be published and promoted on our internal job search platform, Ed Job Plus, for 14 working days and other internal promotional channels, ensuring maximum exposure to our talented pool of eligible students
- Required Documentation: Employers must submit the following documents for each Student Intern before the internship begins, as stipulated in the “Employer Application” email. Late submissions after 27 July 2026 will not be accepted:
- A signed Internship Agreement between EdUHK and the Employer
- A soft copy of the Employees' Compensation Insurance covering the Student Intern during the internship period
- A soft copy of the signed Internship Employment Contract between the Employer and the Student Intern
- A Declaration from Applicant Employer signed by the Employer
- A Declaration from Applicant Student Intern signed by the Student Intern
- An Undertaking Form signed by the Student Intern
- An updated “No Objection Letter” (NOL) from the Hong Kong Immigration Department, indicating no objection to the student’s employment (for non-local full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students only)
- Internship Period: All internships for EdUHK Student Interns under the Scheme must commence no later than 3 August 2026, and must conclude by 31 August 2026. Each internship period must last for a minimum of 28 calendar days
- Location and Supervision: All Student Interns may enrol only in internships located in Hong Kong. Internships must be conducted on-site to ensure they are meaningful and provide proper supervision and guidance for student interns. Remote or work-from-home arrangements are not permitted
- Post-Internship Requirements:Upon completion of the internship, the participating Employer must submit an Employer’s Internship Evaluation Form, online Supervision Form and Attendance Record as supporting documents to the EdUHK Student Affairs Office Career Development Services (CDS). Once these documents are verified and approved by CDS, they will contact the Student Interns directly regarding the allowance settlement arrangement, which will be disbursed by CDS:
- Under the scheme, the subsidy is HK$383per calendar day (totaling HK$11,490 for 30 calendar days). Please note that the allowance is subject to review and adjustment by the funding body.
- The first and last days of the internship must be workdays. If Saturdays and/or Sundays and/or public holidays are considered workdays in the Internship Employment Contract, they can be included in the subsidy calculation
- Surprise Site Visit: CDS may arrange visits to the workplaces of Student Interns during the internship to confirm that the internship experience of Student Interns is I&T-related and meaningful
- Exclusions from Reimbursement: Applications will not be accepted or reimbursed under the following circumstances:
- Internships lasting less than 28 calendar days, after deducting any no-pay leave days
- Applications for Student Interns taking 14 or more no-pay leave days during the internship period
- Failure to submit the Student’s Internship Evaluation form and/or the Employer’s Internship Evaluation Form and Attendance Record, along with all required documents, by 7 September 2026, or within 7 calendar days after the end of the internship, whichever is earlier
