The Post-Secondary Student Summer Internship Programme (PSSIP)

 

PSSIP provides internship placement opportunities for students who are permanent residents of the HKSAR and enrolled in full-time programmes offered by post-secondary institutions. If you want to enrich your summer, gain experience by working in the government bureau/ department and pursue a related career in the future, this is a great opportunity for you to get started.

The Administrative Service Internship Programme (ASSIP)

 

The Administrative Officers (AOs) in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region are professional public administrators who play a vital role in shaping government policies and managing public resources, contributing to various areas across different bureaux and departments. ASSIP offers you a unique chance to gain hands-on experience alongside serving AOs, helping you understand their roles and mission while facilitating your career planning.

 

Duties:
  • Perform similar duties to the AOs of the assigned government bureau or department (click HERE for the details of AO roles), including policy formation and coordinating the provision of government services etc.
  • Visit various government offices and/or relevant public organisations

Eligibility:
  • Permanent resident of the HKSAR
  • Undergoing full-time studies in the 2025-26 and 2026-27 academic years, with a view to obtaining by summer 2027 or 2028 (i.e. by September) a bachelor’s degree or higher qualifications

Internship Programme for Non-ethnic Chinese Students 2026

 

The Civil Service Bureau has organised the Internship Programme for Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) Students since 2019 to help NEC students accumulate work experience and enhance their competitiveness for employment. Students will have the opportunity to work at the bureau or department by providing administrative support.

 

Duties:
  • Offer administrative support in the daily operations of the bureau/department and support the implementation of projects
  • Certain placements may specifically focus on delivering public services to NEC communities in Hong Kong, aimed at enhancing knowledge of NEC languages and cultures
Eligibility:
  • Permanent resident of the HKSAR
  • Non-ethnic Chinese full-time undergraduate student
  • Priority will be given to non-final year students

Internship Scheme for Students with Disabilities 2026

 

Launched by the Civil Service Bureau in 2016 with the dual aims of allowing students with disabilities to gain hands-on work experience in the Government, the 2026 Internship Scheme for Students with Disabilities is now receiving applications.

 

Duties:
  • Provide support in a wide range of executive/administration functions
  • Interns will be posted to various government bureaux and departments
Eligibility:
  • Permanent resident of the HKSAR
  • Non-final year student with disability studying a full-time bachelor’s degree, associate degree or higher diploma course or equivalent (below master’s degree level)
  • Priority will be given to those who had not joined the Scheme before

Overseas Economic & Trade Offices (ETO) of HKSAR Government

 

The ASEAN Internship Scheme for Hong Kong Higher Education Students, organised by Hong Kong Economic and Trade Offices (HKETO) in Singapore, Jakarta and Bangkok, is now open for applications. Participants will have chance to intern at HKETO in ASEAN member countries, broaden their horizons and engage in cultural exchange with friends from different countries.

  • Placement Period: Between May and August 2026 with a duration of a minimum of 6 weeks (depends on the requirement of host organisation)

Students can indicate up to 5 preferences of internship position. Please note that the number of nominated students is limited and will stop once the vacancies are filled. Therefore, please submit your application as early as possible.
