Research on Executive Function Training Group for Primary One ADHD Students
Centre for Family Wellness and Child Development, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals organised the Executive Function Training Group for Primary One ADHD Students, aiming to help diagnosed with or suspected ADHD children to adapt mainstream Primary Schools, Executive Function Training Group for Primary One ADHD students has been conducting for 3 years since 2016. The feedback of the groups from parents of participants and teachers in Primary School are positive especially in the area of participation of parents involved in the training. In order to assess the efficacy and to gain valid scientific evidence of the Executive Function Training Group for the students diagnosed with or suspected ADHD, I-WELL conducted an action research using a combination of cognitive tasks, eye-tracking and EEG tasks with Tobii X3-120 Eyetracker and ANT Neuro EEG System, as well as the BRIEF 2 rating scale of executive function.
- To explore the effectiveness of Executive Function Training in helping students diagnosed with or suspected ADHD in adaptation on Primary Schools.
- To give feedback on the development of Executive Function Training Group for localized students in Hong Kong. Enrich and modify the training group plans, activities and teaching aids which are designed in Phase I.
- To design research methodology in assessing the efficacy and gaining valid scientific evidence of the Executive Function Training Group for Primary One ADHD students. To assess correlation between improvements in participating parents and in students’ executive function.
- To promote public awareness in the importance of Executive Function development of students diagnosed with or suspected ADHD.
