Aligned with EdUHK’s vision of “Education Futures,” the five-week EdUHK Summer School 2026 was coordinated by the Global Affairs Office (GAO) under the leadership of Vice President (Academic), Professor May Cheng May-hung. Taking place from 2 July to 9 August 2026, the programme brought together 241 students from 49 overseas partner institutions worldwide, including Austria, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chinese Mainland, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Germany, Ireland, Korea, Macao SAR, Norway, Oman, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan China, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates, to celebrate cultural diversity and strengthen connections between local and non-local students on campus.

Designed for both academic and intercultural growth, the Summer School featured credit-bearing courses delivered by departments across EdUHK’s three faculties. Participants engaged in two credit-bearing courses across 18 courses. During the programme, GAO also welcomed 48 EdUHK student ambassadors, who played an active role in supporting cultural activities and fostering cross-cultural understanding. 

Beyond the classroom, students were introduced to Hong Kong through a vibrant mix of cultural, historical, and experiential activities organised with the support of the Student Affairs Office. From guided tours of iconic heritage sites—such as Man Mo Temple, the Hong Kong Museum of the War of Resistance and Coastal Defence, and other local attractions—to immersive learning experiences, students gained a deeper appreciation of Hong Kong’s rich history and coastal legacy, spanning from the Tang dynasty to the present day.

Students shared their reflections on the Programme. Tzveta from The Hague University of Applied Sciences said, “This was truly an unforgettable experience that greatly contributed to my path towards becoming a global citizen. The students and teachers alone made it worth it. For anyone planning to go, I would highly recommend participating in all cultural activities, as they were certainly a highlight.” Ekaterina from Moscow City University remarked, “It was truly once-in-a-lifetime experience, getting to know so many people from all around the world and emerging into the bright culture of Hong Kong together. I enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere here and would definitely advise all who think about applying here to give it a try. This month felt like a whole life; every day was packed to the brim with activities, studies and sightseeing. It was unbelievable!” Chen Chen from Wuhan University added, “My summer study at EdUHK left me wonderful memories. The social psychology courses offered brand-new academic insights, and I made warm friends here. I also explored unique local culture in Hong Kong in my free time.”

With meaningful academic engagement, cultural exchange, and genuine community connections, EdUHK Summer School 2026 reflects the University’s commitment to nurturing globally minded citizens and advancing international collaboration in higher education.
