Lunar New Year Celebration 2026
To help overseas students immerse themselves in the unique charm of the Spring Festival, the Global Affairs Office hosted a cultural experience session. More than 70 students from Belgium, Denmark, Ethiopia, Finland, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Korea, Myanmar, Norway and Vietnam joined the celebrations: many for the first time.
Surrounded by auspicious red decorations, participants tried their hands at dough figurine crafting, writing Fai Chun (festive calligraphy), preparing boxes of sweets filled with blessings, and printing golden patterns on Lai See envelopes. These traditional crafts showcased Hong Kong’s festive customs and highlighted the beauty of intangible cultural heritage.
Many international students dressed in red to match the festive atmosphere, taking photos and exchanging greetings with local peers. The lively interactions created lasting memories and strengthened cross-cultural connections.
