Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai dispatched 33 outstanding high school arts teachers participating in the "Millions of Talents Training Project" for primary and secondary schools in Guangdong Province to Hong Kong for an exchange study from 11 – 20 March 2024. Professor Ko Po Yuk and the Centre team warmly received the mainland colleagues, organized workshops with different themes, and arranged class observation and campus visit in four secondary schools for them to promote in-depth exchanges between teachers from both places.
The workshop topics covered Hong Kong school education system, learning study, self-directed learning, small class teaching, career planning and education, and assessment, which are the current and future educational focus in Hong Kong. The delegation visited ELCHK Lutheran Secondary School, Henrietta Secondary School, Sacred Heart Canossian College, and TWGHs Chen Zao Men College. Each school developed teaching strategies suitable for students based on the school-based learning culture and student abilities. Teachers from both places discussed teaching effectiveness and student learning outcomes in post-lesson meetings, promoting professional exchanges.
This exchange activity deepened the mutual understanding of teachers from Hong Kong and mainland, promoted the exchange of educational concepts and experiences, and provided new opportunities for the development and cooperation of education in both places. Mainland teachers expressed appreciation, and will apply the experience and knowledge they have learned to teaching practice.
