Partnering with School Principals
The Institute works closely with school principals to improve the quality of education in Hong Kong schools. This strong partnership was evidenced in the 2nd Hong Kong School Principals' Conference held on 31 March 2006. The Conference, entitled "Beyond Dilemmas", brought together over 1,000 leaders in education, ranging from secondary and primary school principals and vice-principals, academic researchers and education policy-makers. The occasion provided educators with a platform to share their views and learn from experiences overseas, including the inspiring talk given by Professor Clive Dimmock from the UK.

Collaboration beyond Hong Kong

Gaining Global Perspectives
The Institute is committed to developing broad international perspectives in its student body and views this as an essential part of teacher education. The HKIEd is currently in an early, yet rapidly developing, stage of involvement in student exchange programmes and international study tours with partners from the mainland, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, North America, the UK and Europe. In 2005-06, the Institute provided immersion programmes of up to15 weeks, for close to 400 students majoring in Chinese and English Language studies to enable them to enhance their language proficiencies. In addition, almost 200 students in other disciplines had the opportunity to travel to mainland China and Taiwan, as well as to other countries overseas, including France, New Zealand, the USA and the UK for study visits.
