Teacher Education Programmes (Co-terminal Double Degree)
Normal Period of Study: 5 Years
EdUHK is one of the teacher education providers in Hong Kong. Graduates of the University’s teacher education programmes are eligible to apply to become fully qualified Registered Teachers. For registration as a teacher, graduates should approach the Teacher Registration Team of the Education Bureau (EDB) to submit applications directly. All applications will be independently assessed by the EDB which will consider, among other things, whether an applicant has been convicted of any criminal offence (including sex-related offences) in Hong Kong or elsewhere, or is involved in any ongoing criminal proceedings or investigations. The BA(CDA) & BEd(MU) cross-sectoral co-terminal double degree programme incorporates knowledge and proficiency in its disciplines from both Western and non-Western cultures, including Chinese Music, and articulates the interconnectedness with the social, historical, cultural, technological, and aesthetic contexts, covering digital arts practices and STEAM education in music, and critically applying, evaluating, and critiquing a broad range of styles, genres, and traditions within local, regional and global contexts. The programme will equip students with knowledge in arts administration and management, providing them with opportunities to gain hands-on experience through internships, in addition to solid training to nurture professional school teachers. Graduates of the programme will have attained academic excellence and professional competence, and will possess a solid command of subject knowledge and skills in their chosen disciplines, together with a firm and thorough grasp of the interrelationship between theory and practice.

The BA(DCCC) & BEd(CL) is a cross-sectoral co-terminal double degree programme with two majors, namely Discipline Studies Major and Education Major, which aims to equip students with the disciplinary competency, professional competency, digital literacy skills, and the professional conduct and ethics required of teachers. These competencies are essential for teaching Chinese Language in both primary and secondary schools or for engaging in other professions that require in-depth knowledge and skills in Chinese Language Studies with digital communication skills. Graduates of this programme will receive two degrees and will be eligible to apply to become fully qualified Registered Teachers in Hong Kong.
This cross-sectoral co-terminal double degree programme aims to prepare students to become competent teachers of English in primary and secondary schools, or other English language related professionals. Graduates will obtain a high level of English proficiency, strong digital literacy skills, and an ability to help pupils learn English effectively. Students will learn the English language system, the use of digital tools for language applications, and the principles and theories of teaching and learning with special reference to the teaching and learning of English as a second language. Students in the programme will conduct teaching practices in primary and secondary schools, and join an immersion programme in an English-speaking country.
The BA(HE&AM)&BEd(CHI HIST) is a co-terminal double degree programme, aiming to cultivate students with professional ethics, creativity, lively teaching abilities, and a global perspective for teaching the subject of Chinese History in secondary schools. This programme will also equip students with the necessary knowledge of cultural heritage and museum education. Graduates of this programme will receive two degrees and will be eligible to apply to become fully qualified Registered Teachers in Hong Kong.
The BA(PF) & BEd(BAFS) double degree programme aims to train pre-service teachers to effectively teach Business, Accounting and Financial Studies [BAFS] and Business Fundamentals [BF] in secondary schools. Students will be equipped with a solid understanding of business disciplinary and teaching knowledge and skills with a focus on the latest changes in business environment and technological advancement from different perspectives. Students are also equipped with academic and professional competencies in personal finance and finance advisory. They will be introduced to the fundamental operations of the banking and financial sector within the global business context, and the contemporary conceptual and practical issues in investment analysis, portfolio management, budgeting and taxation, wealth management, and financial planning and counselling. The disciplinary knowledge in personal finance and finance advisory can enhance prospective teachers’ competence to deliver financial education and organise student activities for promoting financial education in secondary schools. Upon the completion of the programme, graduates will be able to display competent teaching with professional conduct and ethics for quality business and financial education provision in secondary schools.
The BSc(AIET) & BEd(ICT&PSci) cross-sectoral double degree programme aims to nurture adept and visionary educators equipped with the expertise to cater to the multifaceted educational requirements of learners. Embracing the ethos of inclusivity and community values a diverse range of intelligences within the realms of Information and Communication Technology and Primary Science education, Artificial Intelligence, and Education Technology. Through rigorous training and immersive experiences, we aim to produce professionals who can navigate and harness the transformative power of these technologies to shape the future of education.

You can be a qualified Mathematics teacher in a primary school or a competent member of a technology company. You will learn Mathematics, Pedagogy, Artificial Intelligence, and relevant technologies and be ready for an exciting career.
This cross-sectoral co-terminal double degree programme aims to prepare students to teach science (including Biology and Chemistry) in primary and secondary schools, as well as pursue careers as environment-related professionals. The programme provides a wide range of learning experiences for students to develop scientific literacy, understand the relationship among science, technology, society and the environment, and contribute to science education and sustainable development in the 21st century. Students in the programme will conduct teaching practices in primary and secondary schools, and internships in environment-related organisations. Students can declare their major (Biology or Chemistry) in their year 1 of studies.
The BSc(SPSC) & BEd(PE) cross-sectoral double degree programme is a teacher-training programme aiming to equip prospective students with disciplinary knowledge and pedagogical principles pertinent to the teaching of physical education in primary and secondary schools. Through internships and comprehensive training in sports science, coaching and education, students are prepared for diverse career paths and well equipped to excel in both academic and workplace settings.
The Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Psychology and Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Early Childhood Education) co-terminal double degree programme offers an integrated educational experience in the disciplines of psychology and early childhood education. Graduates will acquire specialised knowledge and diverse skills, enhancing their career prospects. They will become professional educators equipped with substantial psychological expertise, enabling them to create inclusive and effective learning environments for young children aged zero to eight. The programme also supports further professional development in fields such as clinical psychology, counselling psychology, educational psychology, and industrial-organisational psychology, providing practical learning experiences like internships.
Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Sociology and Community Studies and Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Geography) (co-terminal double degree) (Five-year Full-time) is a teacher-training programme which aims to equip students with two social science disciplinary perspectives – both geographical and sociological – in analysing the complex relationships between individuals, societies, and the world. Upon completion of the proposed programme, graduates will be able to apply both disciplinary knowledge and pedagogical skills in the teaching sector.
Graduates will be eligible for applying as registered teachers in Hong Kong and could teach Geography and specific modules within Tourism and Hospitality Studies in secondary schools with the subject knowledge and pedagogical experiences provided in the programme. At the same time, students will be equipped with professional and generic skills that would be useful for other professional sectors dedicated to community advancement and sustainable development.
Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Sociology and Community Studies and Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Primary Humanities) (co-terminal double degree) (Five-year Full-time) is a teacher-training programme aiming to equip prospective students with disciplinary knowledge and pedagogical principles pertinent to the teaching of Primary Humanities in primary schools. At the same time, students will also acquire a sociological foundation in professional and generic skills opening up multiple career pathways.
Non-Teacher Education Programmes Year 1 / Senior Year Admissions

Senior year admissions are mainly for final year students / graduates with Associate Degree or Higher Diploma qualifications.
The BA(CDA)-MU/VA programme features an innovative creative digital emphasis for music/visual arts within subject-focused and major-elective courses. It extends the depth and reach of our existing provision within the new targeted art tech, entertainment and multi-media sectors, while also retaining the Internship as one of the unique and highly popular components. This programme will equip students with the theoretical, practical and contextual knowledge and skills that are applicable within the cultural and creative industries, the cultural and educational sectors, and in the broader commercial sectors of the region. It will also equip students with knowledge in arts administration and management, providing them with opportunities to gain hands-on experience through internships.
The BA(DCCC) programme offers a wide range of courses to emphasise the intersections of Chinese language and culture with media, creative arts and digital literacy, enabling students to develop an integrated knowledge and sophisticated professional profile to contribute to culture and arts and commercial and economic sectors (i.e. creative industries, tourism and retail industry, intellectual property services). Students will gain hands-on experience with digital tools for language applications, which will empower them to develop creative digital contents for language learning and teaching, produce and publish innovative and engaging contents in digital media, and apply digital tools in the field of Chinese communication.
The BA(ESDC) programme aims to cultivate a new generation of English studies students with strong digital literacy skills through a digitally enriched curriculum. The programme provides a wide range of courses to build a solid foundation in English language, linguistics and digital literacy, consolidated by hands-on experience in using digital tools for language applications. Students will be empowered to develop digital contents for the learning and teaching of languages, to publish in digital media and to support and critically evaluate digital communication solutions. A combination of humanities and digital communication technology will allow students to further contribute to the transformation of education, media, and publishing in the digital age.
The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Heritage Education and Arts Management programme furnishes students with the knowledge, mindset and skills required to meet career demands in the fields of arts, cultural, heritage and museum education. It complements global and local trends of enhancing citizens’ all-round development in formal and non-formal arts and cultural education. Building on the strong partnerships between The Education University of Hong Kong and heritage and arts institutes nationally, regionally and internationally, the programme is interdisciplinary, and focuses on enhancing the work-related competencies of practitioners. The Bachelor of Arts in Personal Finance [BA(PF)] is a pioneering undergraduate programme designed specifically to address the financial needs of individuals and households.

The BSc(AI&EdTech) programme is designed to meet the growing societal demand for professionals in artificial intelligence and educational technology, while actively responding to the continuous evolution of education and other industries in the era of digitalization and intelligence. It aims to: (a) provide students with fundamental knowledge and skills in artificial intelligence and educational technology; (b) develop students’ ability in applying knowledge of artificial intelligence and educational technology appropriate to teaching and learning; (c) build up students’ skills in using appropriate methods of artificial intelligence and educational technology to approach and solve real-world problems in educational contexts; and (d) equip students with the capacity to conduct and evaluate educational projects supported by ethical use of artificial intelligence and educational technology.
Environmental management is of growing importance in the daily operation of private and public sectors. Throughout the past few decades, new environmental tools and knowledge have emerged to enable policymakers and decision-makers to deal with environmental challenges presented in their planning and operation, including environmental management system, environmental risk assessment, environmental impact assessment, and pollution control technology, etc. At the same time, the establishment of environmental regulation in different jurisdictions makes it necessary for different sectors to comply with different legal and regulatory requirements. The multidisciplinary BSc(IEM) programme is catered for students who have a strong interest and dedication in environmental management and sustainability. BSc(IEM) has been accredited by the Hong Kong Institute of Qualified Environmental Professional (HKIQEP) under the HKIQEP Accreditation Scheme for Environmental Degree Programmes - Undergraduate Level.
The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Speech Pathology and Rehabilitation programme offers an innovative interdisciplinary approach to professional training in speech pathology, also known as speech therapy. This programme goes beyond traditional discipline-specific knowledge by integrating essential skills and insights from various fields to meet the evolving needs of healthcare professionals. Students will benefit from an integrated minor in Psychology and Well-being, providing a comprehensive understanding of related fields. Students who are admitted to the programme through Year 1 admissions will be eligible to select one of the two strands, namely Sports Coaching, or Digital Technology and Sports, in their Years 3 and 4 studies.
The Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Psychology programme is designed to provide a comprehensive curriculum that meets the standards of both local and international universities. This programme features three interrelated concentrations: (1) School Psychology, (2) Health Psychology, and (3) Human Relations and Communication. These concentrations aim to enhance students' intellectual capacities and equip them with the necessary psychological knowledge and skills applicable in various professional settings. Non-Teacher Education Programmes Senior Year Admissions

Senior year admissions are mainly for final year students / graduates with Associate Degree or Higher Diploma qualifications.
Hong Kong witnesses an increasing need for parent education and related studies. The BA(ECFS) programme addresses this need by training students who are able to empower parents to promote the development of young children using science-informed methods.
Students will learn how to develop and evaluate family-oriented programmes. Students will also learn how to collect data to address research questions about early childhood and family studies. Graduates are expected to be competent practitioners who are able to support families and schools in their efforts to take care of young children, run systematic family-oriented programmes in school and community settings, and deal with a wide range of family-related issues.
The BA(TCSL) programme aims to nurture professionals in teaching Chinese as a Second Language. Students enrolled in this programme will be equipped with: (i) interdisciplinary knowledge including Chinese language and pedagogy, as well as educational psychology; and (ii) the ability to analyse issues related to Chinese teaching in the context of multilingualism and globalisation.
The BSc (EM) gives your career in education-focused administration a head-start, equipping students with career opportunities in schools, NGOs, and education-related organizations where care, ethics, and social responsibility are core to their business agenda. Our programme has a strong team of university-wide, inter-faculty, and inter-disciplinary instructors with academic and practitioner experiences in education and executive management. Professional preparation includes a broad and diversified spectrum of essential knowledge (e.g., grant proposal writing, human resource management, leading organization entrepreneurship, etc.), and internship opportunities. Internship will be matched according to students’ career interests with our education, non-profit, and related private sector industry partners for placements in Hong Kong or the Greater Bay Area.
In recent years, the ecosystem of social business has speedily evolved, and some social entrepreneurs and successful social innovation projects have emerged. In a rapidly changing world, social entrepreneurs develop strategies by drawing on and merging inventive thought from both non-profit and business sectors, start businesses with the dual purpose of profit and social value, and address social problems, such as poverty and unemployment, unfair trade, etc., with innovation. This Programme with a focus on the developmental needs in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and emerging economies in Asia, provides students with a holistic experience of social entrepreneurship, enhances students with academic and professional foundations, and helps students develop networks through internship and field visits with organisations in Hong Kong and other cities in the GBA, enables students’ understanding of the complex dynamics of social transitions in GBA and Asia, in order to equip students for their future careers.
The programme aims to provide students with a solid training in social sciences inquiry so that they can understand the nature and complexity of social and cultural challenges faced by individuals in communities of different scales and at different levels. Students will be introduced to issues concerning class, ethnicity, gender, social inequality, and cultural diversities. They will also participate in discussions related to social transformations and the changing social structures and institutions in Hong Kong, Mainland China and the contemporary world. Students will be expected to understand and explain social issues with the use of appropriate quantitative and qualitative data. The programme also enhances students’ conceptual and problem-solving skills with a view to promoting personal growth and community practices. This programme aims to provide practitioners or intending practitioners in Professional and Vocational Education (PVE) settings with the skills, understandings and aptitudes to work effectively, efficiently and confidently as professional teachers, instructors, trainers, educational designers and change agents, including Applied Learning context. The programme provides students with the opportunity to build upon their existing disciplinary knowledge, integrating it with the educational learning that is the core of the programme.

This Programme is the first add-on specialist degree in Hong Kong on special needs and inclusive education. The Programme, in line with the government's policy on integration, aims to provide specialist training for serving teachers or professionals to work effectively with learners with special needs in mainstream schools or special education settings. It also aims to significantly enhance the competencies of teachers so that they are able to collaborate and develop effective teams within the realm of the whole school approach whether they are based in special education settings or resource centres.

Bachelor of Health Education (Honours)
Study Mode & Normal Period of Study: Full-time (2 Years)
Bachelor of Health Education (Hons) Programme [BHE], a unique top-up degree in the market, aims to nurture participants of Higher Diploma / Associate Degree in health-related studies, registered teachers, nurses, and social workers to be effective health educators. It is also the major provider for elite athlete education with flexible study plan. The programme prepares participants as train-the-trainer and with knowledge skills to design and conduct health education interventions to clients in various settings and to evaluate contemporary health issues in the community.
The programme has the following iconic features:
1. Use of Innovative and creative strategies to promote health education in community;
2. Establishment of excellent network with schools and non-profit organizations to provide authentic practice opportunities; and
3. Implementation of evidence-based health education practice in various real-life settings.
