English Communication (II) 

  1. Synopsis 

This course provides language preparation for high-stake English tests such as IELTS. The focus of the course is speaking although an integrated approach will be adopted. This course extends oral language capacity through a range of real-world topics from authentic texts to promote individual and group oral activities. Students will be able to articulate ideas about global current issues and trends, as well as improving pronunciation with accompanying stress and intonation. 

 

 

  1. Course Intended Learning Outcomes (CILOs)     

Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to: 

CILO1 

 

Demonstrate the ability to think critically and analytically when developing individual standpoint with justifications on academic topics. 

CILO2 

 

Demonstrate communicative competence in speaking in an academic setting (pronunciation, intonation, fluency). 

CILO3 

 

Apply in speaking relevant and appropriate English language structures (grammatical range and accuracy). 

CILO4
