A Visit to Nan Lian Garden – Chinese Culture in Hong Kong Gardens Guided Tour
The Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Sociology and Community Studies and Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Primary Humanities) programme organised a guided tour of Nan Lian Garden under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department’s initiative on 27 May 2026.
Nan Lian Garden, designed in Tang style, exemplifies the elegance and craftsmanship of one of China’s most celebrated dynasties. Professional docents led our students and colleagues through the garden’s architectural features and cultural symbolism, offering a deeper appreciation of the Tang dynasty’s openness, inclusiveness and enduring influence.
This visit provided our students with valuable insights into the splendour of the Sui and Tang civilisations, while encouraging reflection on the legacy of Chinese culture and its relevance today. It was a meaningful opportunity to connect historical traditions with contemporary perspectives, enriching both academic learning and professional development.
