The Awardee of the President’s Commendation in Sports 2020/21
Being a full-time athlete for 10 years, sports strengthened my determination, sportsmanship and perseverance. Apart from sports, I also enjoy studying which nurtures my critical thinking and problem-solving skills. I learnt to look into problems from different perspectives and develop various solutions to tackle them, which in turn bring positive impact on my sports performance. The flexible study plan and mentorship scheme tailor-made for athletes enable my balanced development between academic study and sports, as well as better time management and self-discipline.
The University attaches great importance to the all-round development of its students. In 2020, I joined an internship and acquired real-life work experience for two months. The valuable insight and experience gained had equipped me better for future career exploration.
I am thankful to EdUHK for the opportunities and support given, that motivate me to strive for excellence. I am honoured that my efforts and dedication in both sports and academic study are recognised. With this award, I am confident to strike for greater achievements in the future. I also hope that my experience and accomplishment can inspire the younger generation to pursue their personal growth.
The Education University of Hong Kong considers it vital to encourage students’ active engagement in co-curricular activities so as to build value systems and personalities, broaden horizons and absorb knowledge from alternative and non-traditional sources. The President’s Commendation Scheme (PCS) was introduced in 2010/11 as a University-level recognition of students’ non-academic achievements. For more information, please visit here.
