BSocSc(Psychology) Online Programme Talk

2019-12-12

We had the first-ever online programme talk for Bachelor of Social Sciences in Psychology this November.

The talk features Dr Wai-Kai Hou, Programme Leader of Bachelor of Social Sciences in Psychology, introducing admission requirements, career prospects, special features of the programme, as well as interview tips.

“Psychology is the scientific study of human behaviour, emotion, and mind,” said Dr Hou. “We conduct research, experiments, and questionnaires to study the behaviour of human beings. Students must write essays and research papers to analyse and report their observations and findings,” Dr Hou said. Students with high level of English proficiency will have an advantage in studying Psychology.

Every BSocSc(Psychology) graduate must complete a 200-hour internship. Eric Nesar, graduate of the programme, shared the experience of his internship, teaching small children EQ at a charity organization. “Back then, I didn’t like kids, and kids didn’t like me,” recalled Eric. “But during my internship, I had the opportunity to teach local kids soft skills, like self-esteem, anger management, time management.” Eric is currently a professional training specialist, teaching children and teenagers EQ and IQ.

This year, the programme will invite candidates for admission interview. Dr Hou shared admission advices with applicants in the video.
