To Sirs with Love

Upon our request, Ma permitted us to stay for his Mathematics class - with 23 students seated in four groups. Though they ridiculed their young teacher and were far from being attentive, Ma still moved around the class and explained patiently to each group. Mr Chan Tze-leung paid visit to Ma's class as he did for all other classes. His observation was that, in recent years, young teachers trained by HKIEd and other tertiary teacher education institutions are energetic, committed and professional. In the special circumstance of his school, Mr Chan would consider teachers who are able to conduct their lessons for 50 percent of the lesson time as successful. Against this background, Mr Chan said, "My school is blessed to have teachers who take students' well-being as their primary concern. Ma Chi-hang is among one of the promising young teachers well-regarded by me and the more experienced mentor teachers."

From seasoned and visionary educator like Mr Chan Tze-leung to young and committed young teacher like Ma Chi-hang, the Joy of Learning sees a "continuity between generations", through which the hope of education will live on.
