Zippy's Friends Project with fresh donation from the Hongkong Bank Foundation

With its huge success in launching the Zippy's Friends project for children in Hong Kong, the Institute obtained a further donation of $2.4 million from the Hongkong Bank Foundation to kick-start a similar project in Shanghai. Aimed at promoting young children's social and emotional competence in the form of a school-based programme, the HKIEd will collaborate with the London-based Partnership for Children (PFC) and the East China Normal University (ECNU) in running the new Shanghai project. After teacher educators from ECNU undergo the training, jointly provided by the HKIEd and PFC, it is expected that, by the end of the 3-year project, no less than 250 teachers and 12,300 young children at kindergarten level will have benefited from the programme. As a staunch supporter of education, the Hongkong Bank Foundation has donated over $6 million to the Institute since 2004.
