Charity Bazaar raising fund for needy students

On 15 February 2006, the HKIEd Tai Po Campus was turned into a carnival-like charity bazaar. The 18 outdoor sales booths displayed items generously donated by staff -- with an array of books, CDs, antiques, accessories, jewellery, electricity appliances, clothes, ceramics, toys, stationeries Éto just anything we name it.

The highlight of the day went to the Lunchtime Auction Mart. The much sought-after "treasures" included the Chinese calligraphies written by Mr Szeto Wah, the crystal decanter donated by the President, pearl and diamond pendant, painting, photo, special collection album, and precious Chinese medicine. Amongst the donated items, the three Chinese calligraphies of Mr Szeto Wah attracted most competitive bids, pushing up this single donation to altogether $7,500.

Apart from enjoying shopping pleasure, the staff and students were also treated with entertaining performances staged by highly talented academic staff, including Dr Gregory Thomas, Dr Ronald Tang, Dr Yu Huen and Mr Peter Tang, and supplemented by a performance from school students on African drums.

The very successful charity bazaar helped raise over $110,000 for needy students living in the hostels.
