Blindfolded Charity Run led by blind Kenyan Marathon Runner

Led by blind Kenyan marathon Olympic gold medalist Henry Wanyoike, who is now a world-trotting Goodwill Ambassador for the 'Seeing is Believing Global Campaign" the Institute organised a blindfolded charity run at its Tai Po Campus on 2 November 2005. The event, sponsored by the Standard Chartered Bank and involving some 400 students and staff of the Institute, along with primary and secondary school children, raised a sum of close to $170,000. To show its support for HKIEd, the Standard Charter Bank further matched the money raised with an additional $125,000. Through this meaningful activity, participants on a two-runner team basis learnt to experience the world of the blind, putting their unreserved trust in their running partners. To extend its care to those less fortunate, the Institute channeled part of the donations to the Hong Kong Blind Union and the "Seeing is Believing Global Campaign".
