IT student won Challenge Cup in IT for his high level analytical skill

In the job market, "good analytical ability" has been hailed as an important attribute for applicants. However in Hong Kong, very often the training of analytical skills is confined to mathematical problem-solving, whereas higher level thinking skills are overlooked. This makes the achievement of Lo Chung-kwan, a Year 4 student of the Bachelor of Science (Mathematics and IT Education) programme, all the more praiseworthy. He was awarded Third Prize winner for his paper submitted to the 9th Challenge Cup held at Fudan University, Shanghai.

In his paper entitled How to infuse systematic thinking skills in Information Technology lessons?, Lo examined the critical factors required for systematic thinking skills development. A teaching model was also developed and tried out in IT lessons.

Established in 1989, the bi-annual Challenge Cup is considered the Olympiad of extra-curricular technological projects of university students in China.
