Surveys of school principals continue to demonstrate that the performance of our graduates is highly valued. In a longitudinal survey conducted for three consecutive years on school principals who have employed HKIEd graduates, a total of 731 graduates and 662 principals responded. The findings indicate that the graduates are rated highly in their work performance, particularly in areas such as working attitudes, Chinese language capability, the ability to use Chinese as a teaching medium, working relations with students, principals and

other teachers, knowledge of major subject taught, and use of information technology resources. Graduates are particularly strong in their Chinese language capability, which is their main teaching medium.

More than three hundred school principals were invited to rate HKIEd graduates on 35 key professional attributes. The 437 graduates from 9 different Bachelor and Postgraduate programmes in 2003, after one year's working experience, obtained a highly satisfactory rating. A longitudinal comparison of the performance of the 2001 cohort after teaching for 1, 2 and 3 years also indicated significant improvements in the ratings they were given.
