2026-04-28

Organized by Integrated Centre for Wellbeing (I-WELL) at The Education University of Hong Kong, an international internship and exchange activity was held in Kazakhstan from April 19 to 25, 2026. The delegation consisted of 14 students and 4 staff members, who traveled to Buketov Karaganda University in Kazakhstan for a seven-day internship and exchange program. The core objective of the activity was to deeply explore and learn modern methods of organizing inclusive education, thereby promoting academic exchange and collaboration between the two universities, as well as providing a significant opportunity for mutual learning in special education experiences between the two regions.

This internship program, titled "Special and Inclusive Education: Exchange of Experiences between Kazakhstan and Hong Kong," aimed to explore educational support models in multicultural contexts through cross-border academic collaboration. Through face-to-face interactions, the program facilitated the exchange of professional experiences between teachers from Hong Kong and Kazakhstan, helping to introduce advanced educational practices in the field of special and inclusive education.

During the internship, the delegation participated in a rich array of professional and cultural activities. In addition to holding in-depth meetings with the leadership of Buketov Karaganda University and gaining a detailed understanding of the operations of its Faculty of Education, the delegation also took part in academic seminars and teaching sessions focused on pressing issues in special education. Furthermore, the delegation conducted field visits to special education institutions in Karaganda, directly observing and experiencing the practical methods and working approaches of Kazakh experts on the front lines of inclusive education.

The successful implementation of this international internship program not only strengthened the cooperation links between The Education University of Hong Kong and a leading global education institution but also reaffirmed the university's long-term strategy of integrating into the global education space and promoting educational equity. Through the active interaction of teachers and students from both sides, a solid step has been taken in promoting innovation in special education and social inclusion, laying a stable foundation for broader educational cooperation in the future.
