Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Sports Science and Coaching
Part A: Admissions Requirement
- What are the General Entrance Requirements for the BSc(SPSC) programme?
JUPAS applicants are normally required to possess the following qualifications:
.Level 3 in Chinese Language
.Level 3 in English Language
.Level 2 in Liberal Studies
.Level 2 in Mathematics (Compulsory Part)
.Level 2 in any elective subjects
Priority consideration will be given to applicants who have taken Biology or Physical Education in HKDSE. Eligible applicants will be invited for the interview.
Non-JUPAS applicants are normally required to possess the following qualification:
.Having an Associate Degree in related disciplines from any recognized institutions; or
.Having a Higher Diploma in related disciplines from any recognized institutions
Applicants who possess equivalent qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Besides, applicants should also demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency in both the Chinese and English languages, unless exempted by the University. For more details, please visit this website.
Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an admissions interview and they will receive relevant details by email and/or SMS. An applicant who has not been invited to an interview shall not assume that he/she is not being considered for admissions.
- Can IELTS results be used to meet the English Language requirement?
For JUPAS applicants, the University ONLY accepts the results in HKDSE English Language.
For Non-JUPAS applicants, the University accepts IELTS results. For more details, please visit this website.
- Am I eligible for the admission to the BSc(SPSC) programme if I did not take Biology or Physical Education in HKDSE?
Applicants who do not take Biology or Physical Education in the HKDSE are also eligible to apply for the BSc(SPSC) programme.
- Does the University consider “combined results” of the HKDSE examination in the selection process?
Yes, the University accepts combined sittings in the HKDSE examination. For the purpose of ranking applicants for admission, all recognized public examination results are considered. If an applicant has taken the examination in a subject more than once, only the best result for that subject will be counted. There is no penalty on repeaters.
- Does BSc(SPSC) programme provide senior year admissions?
Yes. BSc(SPSC) programme does provide senior year admissions.
- How can I apply for the BSc(SPSC) programme if I am a non-local applicant?
In accordance with the HKSAR Government's policy, all non-local applicants, regardless of whether they possess HKDSE examination results, MUST apply for admissions via the non-JUPAS route, and NOT via JUPAS from the 2020 JUPAS cycle.
- What is the definition of local and non-local students?

Part B: Interview
- I am applying for the BSc(SPSC) programme as a JUPAS/Non-JUPAS applicant. Do I need to attend admissions interview?
Yes, you are required to attend an admissions interview. Applicants who do not turn up for the interviews will not be considered for admissions.
- How would the University select applicants for admissions interview? When will the admissions interview?
For JUPAS applicants, we will select applicants to the admissions interview on the basis of their band choices, HKDSE examination results, information on OEA (Other Experiences and Achievements in Competition / Activities) form and SRR (School Reference Report) etc. Please click here for details of the interview arrangements.
For Non-JUPAS applicants, we will select applicants for the admissions interview on the basis of their AD/HD programmes, cGPA, English and Chinese Language proficiency and sports achievements etc.
- How will the admissions interview of the BSc(SPSC) programme be conducted?
Every shortlisted candidate will be interviewed individually in English.
- How can I prepare for my interview?
Applicants are recommended to:
.Make a comprehensive study/research on the curriculum and the career paths of BSc(SPSC) programme;
.Get yourself familiar with the latest development in the sports that you are interested in; and
.Do more mock interviews.
- How do I know if I have been shortlisted for an admissions interview?
Shortlisted applicants for admission interviews will receive relevant details by email and/or SMS. Applicants who do not turn up for the interviews/tests will not be considered for admissions.

Bachelor of Education (Physical Education)
Admission Requirement
- Will the applicant be eligible to apply for the Bachelor of Physical Education Programme [BEd(PE)] if he/she did not take Physical Education (PE) in HKDSE Examination?
Yes. Any applicants who are interested in teaching Physical Education can apply for the BEd(PE) programme, even if he/she did not take PE in HKDSE Examination.
- What are the entrance requirements of the HKDSE results?

- Among the best five subjects of HKDSE, are there any score multipliers for a certain subject?
No, the best 5 scores record (https://www.eduhk.hk/degree/jupas_scores.htm) did not have score multipliers. However, the HKDSE subject in Physical Education (PE) is weighted highest for admission score calculation.
- Will I be admitted to the BEd(PE) programme if I obtained 3322 in my HKDSE, and had a good interview performance?
Applicants who meet the University's entrance requirements in HKDSE and demonstrate good interview performance would have a chance to be admitted to the programme.
- Is it necessary for applicants to put the BEd(PE) programme as Band A choice in JUPAS for an opportunity to be selected for the admission interview?
Yes. Only applicants who meet the HKDSE admission requirements in EdUHK, with BEd(PE) as their Band A choice in JUPAS will have the opportunity to be interviewed.
- What are the number of applicants and the intake quota per year?

Self-Nomination Admissions Scheme
- How many years of sports experience should be submitted for applying the Self-Nomination Admissions Scheme?
There is no specific requirement for the amount of sports experience. The applicants should make their own decision. The number of supporting documents submitted varies based on students’ sports experience.
- Is the Self-Nomination Admissions Scheme available for Non-JUPAS admission?
No. Non-JUPAS applicants would be valued by their relevant experience in the major subject, their associate degree/higher diploma results and their interview performance.
- What is the difference between the Self-Nomination Admissions Scheme and the School Principal's Nominations Scheme? Can I be nominated in both schemes?
Applicants could nominate themselves for the Self- Nomination Admissions Scheme, while the nominees of School Principal's Nominations Scheme are recommended by school principals. Applicantss could be nominated in both schemes.
- How many applicants applied for BEd(PE) through the Self-Nomination Admissions Scheme?
In 2020, 80-90 applicants applied through the scheme, and 5 students of them were admitted to the programme.
- What is the process of applying the Self-Nomination Admission Scheme?
Applicantss are required to apply online and complete all the application procedures, including uploading 1) the proofs of the achievements in sports; 2) a personal statement and; 3) recommendation letters from relevant clubs/associations/schools. - What are the admission criteria for the Self-Nomination Admissions Scheme?
For BEd(PE), the EdUHK Self-Nomination Admissions Scheme is designed for JUPAS applicants with exceptional potential and outstanding talent in sports. Students with excellent performance in the interview(s) will be given the conditional offer, to allow them to be admitted if they meet the HKDSE admission requirement (3322).
- Does the Self-Nomination Admissions Scheme have a maximum quota?
The maximum quota is 10.
Interview
- What kind(s) of questions will be asked in the interview?
The questions mainly focus on applicants’ understanding in BEd(PE), their experience and achievements in sports, and their vision of becoming a Physical Education Teacher. For details, please visit: https://www.eduhk.hk/degree/bedpe.htm
- How will the Physical Fitness Test be conducted in the interview? What are the tests?
In general, the Physical Fitness Test consists of 4 tests, including:
i) 1609m Run;
ii) 1-minute Sit-ups;
iii) Pull-ups (Male) or Flexed Arm Hang (Female) and;
iv) Sit & Reach.
Remarks: the arrangement of the Physical Fitness Test items is subject to the pandemic situation.
- Does the admission only include the Physical Fitness Test?
No. The admission interview includes both a panel interview and a Physical Fitness Test.
- Does the Self-Nomination Admissions Scheme require an interview?
Only selected applicants will be invited for an interview.
- Will it be an individual or group interview?
The interview will be conducted individually.
- Will the interview be conducted in Chinese?
The interview will be conducted in both Chinese and English.
- Is it necessary to pass the interview for admission?
Yes.

What are the entrance requirements for the Top-up Degree of Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) (BHE)?
To be eligible for admission, applicants should:

- have obtained a Higher Diploma or Associate Degree in health/health-related disciplines or equivalent; or\
- be registered teachers in kindergartens, primary, secondary or special schools; registered social workers; or registered nurse / enrolled nurse obtained a Higher Diploma; or
- have obtained a Certificate in Education, Certificate of the Teachers of Children with Special Educational Needs or equivalent; and
- be fluent in both written and spoken English.

When and where can I apply to the programme?
The BHE programme is now open for applications for the 2022/23 academic year, you may apply to our programme through the on-line system (www.eduhk.hk/acadprog/online).
What is the career prospect or articulation pathway after completion of the programme?
BHE graduates will be qualified for work as health promotion officers in elderly centers, as community health educators, as wellness coordinators in outpatient departments/clinics, etc. Graduates of the programme will also have the opportunity to do postgraduate study at the University through a variety of Master's programmes. The University also offers Doctor of Education programme and PhD programme for doctoral study in the relevant specialty.
Will I get Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) after the completion of the programme?
The BHE programme will not lead to a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). However, graduates can proceed to study the Postgraduate Diploma in Education Programme (PGDE) that offered by EdUHK in order to obtain the QTS qualification.
Can I become a practicing nurse in Hong Kong by studying the Bachelor of Health Education (BHE) programme?
This programme will not enable a graduate to become a practicing nurse in Hong Kong. However, graduates of the programme will have a wide range of employment opportunities, and will be able to compete for high-level positions.
