Our elite athlete-students, Leung Wing Yee and Lee Sze Wing (both students of the Bachelor of Health Education (Honours))— represented Hong Kong, China at the Japan Track Cup held in Izu, Japan, from 29 May to 1 June 2025. The duo once again delivered outstanding performances on the international stage, earning a total of one gold and three silver medals.
On the opening day, Lee Sze Wing competed in the Women’s Elimination Race, where she gave her all against her idol, a top-tier local rider from the host nation, and claimed a silver medal.
The second round of competition took place on Saturday, 31 May, Lee Sze Wing returned to the track for the Women’s Elite Elimination Race, where she maintained a solid performance and secured another silver medal. Later that day, Leung Wing Yee then shone in the Women’s Elite Scratch Race, breaking away from the peloton to secure Hong Kong’s first gold medal of the competition. Lee Sze Wing also participated in the Women’s Points Race, where she demonstrated strong form by winning three intermediate sprints in the first 60 laps, tying for the lead with a top Japanese rider. However, she was narrowly edged out in the final sprint and secured another silver medal.
Both elite athlete-students consistently reached the podium throughout the event, proudly representing Hong Kong, China. Congratulations to Wing Yee and Sze Wing on their impressive achievements!
