The first "Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China – Sha Tin Bicycle Festival 2024" was successfully held on November 3, 2024. Organized by the Hong Kong Flash Exchange Association, the Hong Kong China Sports Popularization and Development Association, the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong Sha Tin branch and Kingboard Holdings Limited, the event attracted a large crowd of enthusiastic participants.
The day's festivities included the "Torch Relay Celebration" carnival at the Yuen Wo Playground in Sha Tin, with bicycles and the National Games of the PRC as central themes. The event engaged citizens of all ages, with students from EdUHK volunteering to assist in booth games. The Bachelor of Health Education programme also participated by organizing a booth dedicated to promoting health education, specifically focused on raising awareness about cognitive disorders, including mild cognitive impairment. The booth featured activities titled "腦有記", designed to engage the public in improving cognitive abilities.

The interactive booth included brain-training games and exercises aimed at helping participants, particularly seniors, enhance their cognitive health. Year 2 Health Education student Wong Lok-yi, who helped design the booth, expressed her excitement about the event: "We are thrilled to represent our programme at the 2024 Sha Tin Bicycle Festival. The theme of our booth focused on cognitive disorders common in the elderly. We designed several fun and engaging activities, and the response from around 200 participants of all ages was incredible. The enthusiasm for health education was beyond our expectations, and the lively atmosphere made the event highly enjoyable for everyone. Our booth not only raised awareness about cognitive disorders but also emphasized the importance of prevention, encouraging greater social attention to these issues."

The festival also hosted the "Sha Tin Bicycle Festival Athlete Sharing Session," where members of the Hong Kong cycling team shared their personal experiences and training journeys with the public. Among the guest speakers were several notable alumni and students from EdUHK, including former Hong Kong cycling team member and current chairman of the Hong Kong China Sports Popularization and Development Association, legislator, our alumni, Yeung Ying-hon; rack cycling world champion, our alumni, Wong Kam-po, and current cycling team elite student-athletes Lau Wan-yau, Mow Ching-yin, Leung Wing-yee, and Leung Bo-yee. The athletes spoke about the challenges and rewards of cycling and encouraged young people to persist and strive for excellence.
The Sha Tin Bicycle Festival provided an enriching platform for the exchange of sports and health knowledge, while also promoting public awareness of the importance of fitness and cognitive health.
