Description

The Minor in Teaching and Learning in International Schools aims to engage the Bachelor of Education Programmes' (BEd) students in developing a critical understanding of international education, international schools, their students, teachers, communities and cultures.

This Minor is only for EdUHK Bachelor of Education Programmes' undergraduate students.

[No credit transfer will be granted for courses in the Minor in Teaching and Learning in International Schools. Please consult the specific Minor Coordinator for questions relating to the Minor.]

Field Experience in International Schools $

- Students must have completed the four foundational courses in the Minor in Teaching and Learning in International Schools programme

- Students will be interviewed by the Programme Leader after enrolment and prior to the start of the sessions.

​- Students must demonstrate proficiency to teach in the target language of the designated school placement.
- Students should consult with the Programme Leader regarding placement matters at least one semester before undertaking field work.

International Schools in Global Context ?

This is a Restricted Elective course which can be used to fulfil both the requirements of the Minor and the elective component of the Education Studies domain. Double counting of 6 credit points can be claimed if two electives among the five courses of the Minor are Restricted Elective courses. [For BEd students only]

Learning and Teaching in International Schools ?

This is a Restricted Elective course which can be used to fulfil both the requirements of the Minor and the elective component of the Education Studies domain. Career / Study Progression

This Minor paves the way for BEd students to pursue teaching careers in international schools in Hong Kong and abroad, in local schools with internationalised curricula, in schools across Asia that are opening international sections, and in international schools globally.

BEd students who successfully complete the Minor in Teaching and Learning in International Schools can earn the International Baccalaureate (IB) Certificate in Teaching and Learning.

 

  • Pre-registration with the IB is required. 
  • A fee for the IB Certificate in Teaching and Learning will be payable to the IB upon graduation.
