Minor / Department of International Education (IE)

Key Issues and Changing Values in Education ( Cohort 2018/19 or before ) /
Education Issues in Global Context ( Cohort 2019/20 or after )

Description

In a fast changing world, teachers, like all professionals, are required to think predictively and imaginatively, so that when problems arise, they can exercise skills of good judgment on the spot. However, without a substantial understanding of, and practice in thinking, it is hard to nurture such capacities. The aim of this Minor is to sharpen pre-service students’ thinking capacities by challenging them with local and global / international contexts where complicated issues in education are expected. Drawing upon both Western and Eastern traditions of thought, students are provided with a platform to make sense of the educational key issues within which they are about to work.
