What is Buddy Scheme?
The Buddy Scheme of CLE is designed for all undergraduates of the University. Students who take part in the Buddy Scheme will be paired up with an international tutor from various countries.
The aim of the scheme is twofold. On the one hand, it helps international tutors to integrate into the EdUHK community and to enhance their understanding of Hong Kong culture. On the other hand, it helps our students to befriend with an ambassador from abroad, and various foreign cultures while practicing, improving or sharpening their English language skills.
Under the Buddy Scheme, students will be paired up with current international tutors (Buddy Mentors) who will provide language help and friendship to EdUHK students.
A Buddy Mentor will be assigned to participating students from the same faculty. Your Buddy Mentor will be happy to provide language support, cultural guidance and information to you and your group. For enquiry, please email CLE at asllc@eduhk.hk .
How does it work?
Students will meet their buddy and group once or twice a week on campus, at a time and venue agreeable for both parties. Your group will meet regularly and do fun activities together such as having meals, watching movies, or playing sports. You can also join our workshops or come to the English Café to help you strengthen your socializing and English skills.
Please note:
CLE will help to match up students. The scheme will kick off in November. By accepting a language buddy, students are making a commitment to the other person’s learning experience.
How to apply?
The application of the Buddy Scheme for 2019-20 will be closed on October 7, 2019.
