New Book Publication: Social and Emotional Development for Diverse Learners – The Addition of Asian Perspectives

2025-09-01

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) is delighted to announce the publication of Social and Emotional Development for Diverse Learners: The Addition of Asian Perspectives (Springer, 2025), co-edited by Dr. Lan Yang (EdUHK), Professor Jiesi Guo (ACU), and Dr. Ricci W. Fong (EdUHK).

This volume explores the psychological needs, practices, and interventions that support the social and emotional development of diverse learners in the 21st century. Going beyond traditional studies on special educational needs, it also addresses the experiences of twice-exceptional students, left-behind children of Chinese migrant parents, sexually diverse students, and other disadvantaged groups.

By highlighting contemporary challenges such as adaptability, sexuality education, teacher well-being, and talent development, the book provides fresh insights for educators, researchers, and policymakers. Showcasing under-represented Asian perspectives, it broadens global discussions in inclusive and special education and offers practical and theoretical guidance for advancing social and emotional learning.

The book forms part of the Advancing Inclusive and Special Education in the Asia-Pacific (AISEAP) series and is available via SpringerLink: https://doi.org/10.1007/978-981-96-5202-0
