Dr Kevin YUNG, Assistant Professor from C&I, has produced over 200 radio episodes in the past six years for a programme English in News at Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK). The programme aims to promote learning English through current affairs and social issues. It covers a wide range of themes such as education, health, technology, art, science, politics, music, environment and culture. Through a variety of topics and examples, the programme teaches English vocabulary, grammar, idioms and useful expressions for writing and speaking. “For me, it is a good opportunity to serve the community, and I hope Hong Kong people can learn English with fun,” said Dr YUNG, who is active in teaching and research in English language education and curriculum development. English in News is popular among the general public. It has been one of the top twenty programmes on RTHK podcast. The programme had been broadcast every Sunday evening at RTHK Radio 2 since 2013. The final episode was broadcast on 21 April 2019. All the 235 episodes, which are now archived on the RTHK English in News website (http://rthk.hk/englishinnews) for free public access, are excellent learning and teaching resources for students, teachers and the general public.
