Promoting Academic Excellence and Whole Person Education
In 2005-06, over $4,000,000 was granted to students who demonstrated academic excellence, in the form of scholarships, prizes, awards and bursaries. In 2005-06, to broaden student horizons even further and provide an international perspective to their education, the Institute decided to earmark $8,000,000 annually for overseas immersion programmes, exchanges and visits.

Tertiary education goes beyond the mere pursuit of academic excellence. The Institute strongly encourages students to participate in co-curricular activities. These help them to learn inter-personal, organisational, leadership and problem-solving skills; all attributes that will be important in their future careers. In 2005-06, many different co-curricular activities were organised, involving the participation of 18,507 students.

The HKIEd has always participated actively in social and community services. Recognising our ongoing contributions in this direction, in 2005-06, the HKIEd received the Caring Organization Logo award from the Hong Kong Council of Social Service.
