The Hong Kong Institute of Education was established in 1994 through the amalgamation of five Colleges of Education. Building upon the solid foundation this heritage provided, the Institute has made remarkable progress in only ten years - becoming one of the University Grants Committee funded tertiary institutions in 1996, enrolling students in our first Bachelor of Education degree in 1998 and achieving self-accrediting status in 2004.

These achievements result from the collective efforts of the Council, the management, staff and students of the Institute. Our newly acquired status signifies entry into a new era of full autonomy in programme development. We pledge to continue to devote our best efforts to serving the community.
