Branding is a key for successful companies nowadays and cultural organizations are no exception. Three experts, including academics and industry leaders will share their insights on the subject with us, using life case studies from Hong Kong and Taiwan.

The presentation of Prof. Jerry Hsia will be in Putonghua whilst those of Mr. Freeman Lau and Mr Michael MacLeod will be in English.

Guest Speakers

Professor Jerry HSIA Hsueh-li

Prof. Hsia is currently a professor at the National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), teaching creative industries management and arts marketing. His expertise lies on arts administration and management, creative industries, cultural policy studies and theatre arts. Prof. Hsia has published more than 20 books including Introduction to Cultural & Creative Industries, Management of Operational Performance of Theatres and Museums and Cultural Market and Ticketing (Co-author), etc.

Mr. Freeman LAU Siu-hong

Mr. Lau is Founder of KL&K Creative Strategics. Born in Hong Kong in 1958, Freeman Lau was graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic, and is now the partner of KL&K Creative Strategics.

Since 1984, Freeman has won over 300 awards. He devotes actively in promoting design by participating in public services related to design. He also takes part in community services. For his remarkable achievement is fully recognised by the society, he was awarded “Ten Outstanding Young Persons” (1997), and “Bronze Bauhinia Star” (2006).  

Titles includes: Bronze Bauhinia Star, University Fellow of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Honorary Fellow of Vocational Training Council, Vice Chairman of the Design Alliance Asia, Secretary General of Hong Kong Federation of Design Associations, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hong Kong Design Centre.

Mr. Michael MACLEOD

Mr. MacLeod was appointed Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in 2011. Previous to this, he was General & Artistic Director of Glimmerglass Opera (the summer opera festival in New York State), Executive Director of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Director of the City of London Festival, General Manager of Sir John Eliot Gardiner's Monteverdi Choir and Orchestras, Assistant Director of the National Centre for Orchestra Studies in London, and General Manager of the Scottish Baroque Ensemble.

 
Professor TSENG Sun-man (Co-ordinator of Public Forum)

Prof. Tseng has held a number of senior arts management positions in Hong Kong, including Executive Director of the Hong Kong Arts Festival Society, Secretary-General of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and Summit Chair of 2013 Cultural Leadership Summit, Hong Kong. From 2005 to 2008, he was Chair and Professor of the Arts Administration Department of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
